The European Challenge Tour is the second-highest pro tour in Europe, comprising 28 tournaments. At the end of the season, the 15 highest-ranked players receive playing rights for the highest tour in Europe – the European Tour. The top 116 in the order of merit retain their playing rights for the following season. Alongside the professionals who qualify through their ranking, a European Challenge Tour tournament field also includes a number of players who have been given wild cards. These are exchanged between the tournament organizers. At the Swiss Challenge, 35 wild cards are allocated to foreign organizers. In exchange, the organizers of the Swiss Challenge receive the same number of invitations for tournaments in the different countries.
These are allocated in accordance with clear performance criteria to the next generation of Swiss golf professionals who are given the opportunity to enjoy valuable starts in international tournaments. For them, it is an opportunity to make the leap to the international elite.
Events such as the Swiss Challenge can only be organized with the support of sponsors and supporters.
